Scarlett Johansson is an American actress and singer. She was born in New york city, New York on the 22nd of November, 1984. Her work has garnered the attention of a broad variety of genres, including historical dramas, thrillers and action adventures. Johansson was born in New York City, and lived there with her father who was an architect and her mother, a producer. She and her twin brother Hunter were the youngest siblings of four. She began to develop an interest in acting from a very young age and was auditioning for commercials before the age of seven. After that, she was enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and later took classes at the Professional Children's School in Manhattan to further hone her craft. Her debut came as a film actress in North (1994) when she was nine years old. At eight, she performed alongside Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson subsequently appeared for the first time in Just Cause (1995) but her debut came in Manny & Lo (1996) the coming-of-age movie about abandoned sisters who escape. After that, she earned the praise of critics for playing the role of a teenager who been injured and resulted in her being disfigured on screen in The Horse Whisperer (1998). She gained more attention with the film Ghost World (2001) as the cynical outcast Rebecca. When she performed her stage debut with Wildflower she worked in various projects throughout the USA.
