Portia de
Portia Lee James DeGeneres, who is professionally known by the pseudonym Portia de Rossi, is an iconic model from Australia as well as a philanthropist and actor. In the year 15 she legally changed her name, adopting the Italian surname "de Rossi" which was glamorous. She adopted the name "Portia" of Shakespeare's performance of The Merchant of Venice. Portia thinks that this was one of the most risky things she has ever done and declared that the need to alter her name was caused by her own struggle with her sexuality. Portia started her career in film with a romantic comedy drama titled 'Sirens' where she was a part of the cast alongside Hugh Grant. Portia has appeared in a variety of American TV movies, including "Too Something," "Nick Freno's Licensed Teacher and Arrested Development", and Better Off Ted.
